Fun Alley near Lonsdale Quay is the most colourful alley in North Vancouver. What use to be a less than animated corridor transformed by splashes of bright red, blue, pink, green and purple all over the walls and floor. The alley has become one of the most popular art installation in the Lonsdale area and has made its way all over social media platforms.
The installation by artist Lukas Kasper was created through a program hosted by The City of North Vancouver called "Studio In The City", an annual program that provides youth with opportunities to apprentice in the arts on various canvases and landscapes throughout the City of North Vancouver. The Fun Alley was the 10th installation by the program and took 8 weeks to be painted by Kasper and participants.
The message behind the piece is "to bring people together through a display of vibrant colours," said Kasper in an interview with LowerLonsdale.ca. He and the Studio In the City team put together "a piece that could capture people both young and old and brought a flare to North Vancouver," something the artist really think it needs. Kasper describes the Fun Alley as, "colour and a perfect place for everyone to get together and enjoy their community."
