The 5,668-hectare Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR) in North Vancouver’s full of spectacular and rugged landscape which features over 100 kilometres of trails with activities such as cycling, horseback riding, and hiking at all skill levels. Its alpine peaks, forested slopes, and pristine waters offer spectacular scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities.

  ESTIMATED DRIVING TIME FROM VANCOUVER: 35 MINUTES

  TRANSIT ACCESS TO LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE

From downtown Vancouver, take the Seabus across to North Vancouver. At the Lonsdale Quay bus loop, take bus #238 to Lynn Valley. Stay on the bus until the last stop at the end of Lynn Valley Road. Get off the bus and walk about 100m northbound until you hit a fork in the road. At this point take a right down the hill. At bottom of the hill continue right across the bridge and up the hill on the other side.

  DOG FRIENDLY IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

Dogs are allowed in most areas of the park but must be in control at all times and leashed in high use areas as well as in sensitive ecosystems. Refer to the on-leash and off-leash signs posted in the park. Respect other visitor and show courtesy by removing your dog waste and disposing of it in the designated dog waste bins located at the main entrances.

Dogs are not permitted on the Seymour Valley Trailway, the Fisherman's Trail (north of the Homestead Trail junction) and the Rice Lake Loop Trail. The LSCR does not permit commercial dog walking.

  PICNICKING IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

There are many scenic picnic areas located along most trails in the LSCR; such as Rice Lake, the Balloon Picnic Site, the Jack’s Burn Picnic Site, the Seymour Fish Hatchery, the Seymour Reservoir Viewpoint and more.

  CYCLING IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

There is a diverse network of cycling trails for beginner to advanced skill levels within the LSCR. Cycling is permitted on all trails except the Rice Lake Loop Trail and Homestead Trail.

  DRINKING WATER IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

 The drinking fountain in the picnic area was shut down and winterized on Dec. 15. It will be turned back on for the new season on Mar. 1, weather permitting. 

There are two drinking water fountains within the LSCR. One near the entrance at the Rice Lake Gate and one at the Seymour Reservoir Viewpoint located at the end of the 11+ km Seymour Valley Trailway.

  CANOEING / KAYAKING IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

Vehicle access, north of Rice Lake Gate, is permitted for Canoeing and kayaking for active members of: Recreation Canoeing Association of BC, Beaver Canoe Club and Vancouver Kayak Club. Open the link below for more information on canoeing and kayaking allowance in LSCR.
Paddlers Access Regulations

  FISHING ALLOWED IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

Fishing is permitted only in Rice Lake, which is stocked with more than 5,000 Rainbow trouts each year by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. All provincial fresh water fishing regulations apply in these areas. Boats and inflatables are not permitted in Rice Lake.

  TOILETS IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

Toilets are located next to the main parking lot at the end of Lillooet Road and many more are scattered along the Seymour Valley Trailway in the picnic areas. There is also toilets located on the Rice Lake Loop Trail. Refer to the park map for specific locations.

  SMOKING IN LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: NO

Smoking is banned in all of Metro Vancouver's Regional Parks and offenders may be hit with a 75$ fine. Fires are also not allowed within the park.

  PARKING AT LOWER SEYMOUR CONSERVATION RESERVE: YES

  WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY: YES

The LSCR offers 10 km of smooth pavement on the Seymour Valley Trailway and a low gradient compacted gravel trail around Rice Lake that are wheelchair friendly.
